As a family-owned, full-service tire and automotive center, Griffin Brothers has been serving the Charlotte area since 1961. Larry Griffin, Sr. opened the anchor location on West Trade Street in Charlotte in February of 1961. No stranger to the tire and automotive industry, he purchased "Honest Tire" in 1961 from an uncle who opened the facility in 1928. The company was renamed Griffin Brothers Tire Sales when Larry's brother Ronnie joined the business. The Griffin brothers quickly made a name for themselves in Charlotte. Larry & Ronnie split the business in the early 1980's with Larry retaining the original store and name. A second location was opened in Cornelius in 1991 and a third in the University area in 1996. In 2000 the Mooresville location was opened, followed by the Concord facility later that year. In 2003, Griffin Brothers acquired Heafner Tires & Wheels in Lincolnton, the company's sixth location. The seventh location was opened in July 2005 in South Charlotte on Park Road near Highway 51. The flagship location on West Trade Street closed in September 2006 due to the area revitalization project. In June 2008 Griffin Brothers purchased Dixon Tire in Shelby, which became the company’s seventh location. Griffin Brothers has long been regarded as a trendsetter in the industry and continues to lead the market as one of region’s best and most enduring family-owned independent tire dealers. This is made possible by the Griffin Brothers dedication to stay current with technology, hire the best possible staff, offer superb customer service and outstanding workmanship. Griffin Brothers is dedicated to its employees, customers and to the communities in which they operate. |
